The COVID-19 pandemic’s effect on the country has been unprecedented. There have been so many changes to our everyday lives. One of the biggest changes is how we communicate. With the rise of social distancing and remaining at home when possible, many in-person interactions we used to have daily may not be happening at all.
This has especially affected those who live in care communities. While the physical separation can be difficult, there are virtual options for residents in these communities to stay in touch with their loved ones. Operation Smart TV is providing this opportunity for the residents of LaSalle Veterans’ Home.
Operation Smart TV is helping veterans stay connected during the pandemic and show those who have made great sacrifices for our country that we’re here for them. Staying connected has been an important focus for everyone during the pandemic. While these times may be uncertain, it can be comforting to know you can easily reach family and friends. Operation Smart TV will provide this opportunity for the residents. In-person visitation is currently not an option for the health and safety of staff and residents, but with a Smart TV, veterans will be able to have remote visits with their loved ones.
Donations can be made at any branch of First State Bank. The goal is to reach $25,000. The current percentage raised is 44.4%. This is phenomenal progress and we’re eager to see it continue. Being able to provide a means of communication to bring veterans closer with their family and friends during these difficult times is a great honor.
Our attorneys hope to help Operation Smart TV gain more awareness so they’ll be able to raise the funds necessary to give back to the veterans. We’re going to participate in a live two-hour online broadcast for Operation Smart TV on Wednesday, August 5th. Be sure to listen in!
