SGKR Sponsoring Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp Baseball Team
As midwesterners, many of us look forward to the spring season as the beginning of warmer weather days after a long, bitterly cold winter. We also eagerly anticipate this time of the year because it marks the kickoff of baseball season. Here at Schweickert Ganassin Krzak Rundio, LLP (SGKR), we’re proud to announce our sponsorship of the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp baseball team for the 2022 season.
The Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp is a collegiate summer league that plays home games at Schweickert Stadium at Veterans Memorial Park in Peru, IL. Appointment to this Prospect League Eastern Conference team allows top-tier college athletes to gain a unique insight into how the professional baseball industry functions without it impacting their National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) qualified status.
The Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp’s team debut in 2019 was a successful one as it went on to make a division championship appearance that year. The coronavirus pandemic led to the cancellation of its 2020 season. Fears over future COVID-19 attendance restrictions motivated league owners to move the team from DuPage to LaSalle County. The Pistol Shrimp quickly committed to returning to the Illinois Valley to play during the 2022 season after their 2021 one ended.
SGKR partner Michael Krzak is particularly thrilled that the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp baseball team has decided to establish its roots here in Peru. He notes, “As a former collegiate baseball player, I understand how important this league is and how giving these athletes the opportunities to showcase their skills is.”
Krzak further noted, “We are excited that the Pistol Shrimp have chosen Peru, IL, in the Illinois Valley as their home. Having the team here provides great opportunities for families and friends to gather together for family-friendly, fun, and affordable entertainment.”

Here at SGKR, we hope the 2022 season will be the Pistol Shrimp’s most shining one. According to the team’s Facebook page, there will be a special event for shrimp fans on May 31 at 4 p.m. The Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp’s 2022 home opener against the Terre Haute Rex will follow on June 3, with pre-game festivities beginning at 6:45 p.m. We hope to see you cheering alongside us at the ball field in a few weeks!
